PPL – PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE

Complete your PPL, CPL and advanced Helicopter Flight Training under the guidance of our experienced flight instructors.

Minimum requirements
Hold a Private Pilot License
17 years old
50 hours of flight training
7 examinations
Class 2 Aviation medical certificate
Language Proficiency examination
Restricted Radio License

The Holder of a Private Pilote License
may not fly for compensation or reward of any kind. This is enforced by the South Africa Civil Aviation Authority.

Our Training program is ratified and enforced by the South African Civil Aviation Authority. Training is conducted on a one-on-one basis at a pace and times suitable to the clients.

NIGHT RATING

Minimum requirements
An applicant for a night rating must be the holder of a valid pilot’s license
An applicant for a night rating must have undergone the following training at a CAA-approved flight training institution:
5 hours of theoretical knowledge briefings.
A minimum of 10 hours of instrument training, of which no more than 5 hours may be flown in an approved flight simulator.
Not less than 5 circuits and 5 take-offs and landings while under dual flight instruction.
A night rating is valid for as long as the pilot’s license is valid
finally, the pilot will be required to pass a written examination as well as a practical skills test.

This is the professional license which enables you to fly for remuneration. There are a number of reasons for gaining a CPL, although the main reason is to launch a career as a professional helicopter pilot.

Helicopter Pilot Training

Minimum of 200 hours of helicopter fight experience
8 examinations

INSTRUMENT RATING

The Instruments (IF) Rating teaches pilots how to fly and navigate with reference to instruments only.The practical flying for the IR includes a minimum of 40 hours of instrument flight instruction, of which one can do 20 hours n our CAA approved FNPT simulator.

Powered Flight instrument training in a Robinson RH-22 or RH-44. Contact us if you are interested in training for an instrument rating, it will help to make one more employable and a safer pilot.

One also needs to have a minimum of 50 hours of PIC cross-country time by day or night as well as a Class 2 medical and a general certificate in radiotelephony

Helicopter Pilot Training
The practical flying for the IR includes a minimum of 40 hours of instrument flight instruction, of which one can do 20 hours n our CAA approved FNPT || simulator. This 40 hour includes the 10 hours carried over from the Night Rating

INSTRUCTOR RATING

INSTRUCTOR RATING

Once one has obtained an instructor rating one will be permitted to act as an instructor doing helicopter pilot training. One may start the training towrds instructor rating while building hours towards one ‘s Commercial Pilot License.

In order to obtain the helicopter instructor rating one needs to:

Hold a CPL(H)
Complete a minimum of 80 hours of briefings
Complete a minimum of 20 hours of practical flight training with an instructor
Successfully pass two (2) theoretical examinations
Successfully pass an oral and practical skills test

SLING RATING

The Sling Rating entails training a pilot to operate a helicopter with a load suspended from a hook under the machine. The Sling Rating entails training a pilot to operate a helicopter with a load suspended from a hook under the helicopter.

Minimal Requirements
Must hold at least a Helicopter Commercial Pilot License:
250 hours of fight time as pilot in command;
5 hours flight time of sling training undertaken with a Grade 1 or Grade 11 Flight instructor.
